ios-Scanner

Scanner that names your paperwork

ios-Scanner opens straight to the camera. Scan a letter, a receipt or a manual, tap Save, and the camera is ready for the next one while the last scan is cleaned up, turned into a PDF and read on the device.

An AI service that you set up then looks at the text and suggests a short title, the date printed on the page and a few tags, and the file is renamed to match, so a folder of scans sorts itself by date. Finished PDFs can be copied to a folder in iCloud Drive or uploaded to OneDrive.

What it does

Inside ios-Scanner

Opens ready to scan

The document camera is the first thing you see. It finds the page edges, takes as many pages as you like, and comes straight back for the next document after you save.

Clean pages in a PDF

Each page is cleaned up, sharpened and saved into a compact PDF. If a scan comes out mirrored or tilted, a Fix Image action tries to straighten it again.

Text read on the device

Every page is read on the phone itself, so you can search your documents by any word on them, as well as by title or tag.

Named, dated and tagged for you

The recognised text goes to your chosen AI service, which returns a short title, the date on the document and tags such as bill, medical, car or house. The file is renamed by date and title, and you can re-run the analysis and review the suggestion before applying it.

Copies to iCloud Drive or OneDrive

Finished PDFs are copied to an iCloud Drive folder you pick, with a small icon showing which ones are there, and can also be uploaded to a OneDrive folder. The document list itself syncs between your devices through iCloud.

Keeps an eye on AI costs

Settings shows how much AI you used and an estimated cost for the last day, week and month. Models running on your own computer count as free.

Good to know

  • Needs an AI service that you set up yourself: Anthropic's Claude with your own Anthropic API key, or any OpenAI-compatible service, such as OpenAI with your own key or a model running on your own computer or network (key optional). No key is included.
  • Only the text read from each page is sent to that service, not the page images. Reading the text happens on the device.
  • Without an AI service, scans are still saved, just named by date and time.
  • OneDrive upload needs your own Microsoft Azure app registration and a sign-in to OneDrive.
